Spearman High School Lion’s Club December Students of the Month

The December Lion’s Club Students of the Month at Spearman High School are seniors, Avery Connelly and Judson Sutterfield

Avery is the daughter of James and Kiki Connelly.  She has one younger sister, Kerstyn Connelly.  Avery has been active in Spearman Lynxette Varsity Golf, Student Council, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Texas Panhandle, and National Honor Society. She is also a volunteer for the Junior Lynxette basketball teams and served as a Spearman Lynxette cross country manager for two years.  Avery has been listed on the Honor Roll throughout high school, has been named Academic All-District in cross country, basketball and golf, has been a Regional Qualifier in golf for the past three years, was named the 2019 Green Country Jr. Golf Champion, and was named the Outstanding Lynxette Golfer for the past two years.  In her spare time, Avery enjoys playing golf and working with Rick Gordon making cabinets. Her future plans include attending Tarleton State University where she plans on studying to become a physical therapist. Avery states the best thing about Spearman is, “We are a really supportive community.  It’s fun going to an event and seeing all the people in our small town.” The best thing about Spearman High School is, “The teachers.  They have always pushed me to be the best I can be in every situation.” Avery’s most influential teacher during her school years is Mr. Mike Rountree.

 Judson is the son of Hank and Melissa Sutterfield.  He has one older brother and sister-in-law, Sawyer and Alex Sutterfield and one older sister and brother-in-law, Mabry and RD Duke.   Judson is active in Spearman Lynx football, basketball, and track.  Judson was named the 2019 football Homecoming King, he received Reserve Breed Champion honors at the 2016 San Antonio Stock Show with his york barrow, he was named Academic All-District in football, basketball, and track, and he was a member of the 2019 800-meter relay that broke the school record set in 2011. In his spare time, Judson enjoys hunting, fishing, and country roads.  After graduation, Judson plans on joining the United States Army to become an Army Ranger.  Judson states the best thing about Spearman is, “I like that it is a small town where you can go hunting, hang with friends, and know your neighbors.”  Judson says the best thing about Spearman High School is, “small classes, known everyone since kindergarten, and great teachers/staff.” Judson’s most influential teacher during his school years is Dr. Mike Ralston.
