FCCLA Students Advance to State!

Spearman had a very successful weekend at the FCCLA Region 1 conference held in Odessa TX. Twenty students traveled to Odessa to represent Spearman in different capacities.
Jasmin Caro served as a room consultant in the State Proficiency event, Cupcake Battles.
Dalton Shields served as the Region I VP of Parliamentary Law. He also ran for office for the 2018-2019 school year and was elected to the office of VP of Peer Involvement.
Makena Burrell & Caleigh Wood competed in Chapter in Review - Display. This event reviews all the plans and activities of the students' local champter since July 1 of the current year. They won their event.
Brianna Wood competed in Sports Nutrition - Junior Division. She also won 1st place. Her event requires the student to develop a detailed individual nutrition/hydration plan for a specific athlete including training, competition and rest days.
Spearman's Jr. Parliamentary Procedure Team consisting of Yasmin Anguiano, Juan Correa, Erica Garcia, Katy McCubbin, Odalys Rosendo and Jaemi Saenz conducted a meeting for their contest and placed 1st in their division.
Spearman's Sr. Parliamentary Procedure Team consisting of Karina Arreola, Edgar Caro, Andrew Crooks, Lilibeth Ibarra, Astyn Kennedy, Trinity Vasquez and Yancy Watts conducted a meeting for their contest and placed 3rd in their division.
All of these students advanced to State and will be competing in Dallas in April.
Also competing in Odessa were Fabiola Calderon and Keira Crum. They prepared and presented in the event Life Event Planning, but did not advance to state.
Kelly Carrell was nominated for FCCLA Honorary Membership by the Spearman FCCLA Chapter. His name was submitted to the Region 1 officers who then voted on all submitted names and qualification. Mr. Carrell was chosen as one of four individuals who were awarded honorary membership in Region 1 this year.
