The May Students of the Month at Spearman High School are seniors, Johana Davila and Pedro Robledo.
Johana is the daughter of Laura Camacho. She has two younger sisters, Tanya Davila, who is in 8th grade, and Vianney, who is a 5th grader. Johana has been active in Spearman Lynxette Tennis and Student Council for four years. She has also been a member of Green Cord, National Honor Society, and Spanish Club. While in high school she has been listed on the All A Honor Roll and was named Academic All-District in Tennis for four years. In her spare time, Johana enjoys baking, cooking, and playing tennis and basketball. She also likes to hang out with her friends and family, attend church, teach Sunday School, and help with her youth group. Her future plans include attending Amarillo College or South Plains College to pursue a career in Sonography. Johana’s most memorable high school moment occurred two weeks ago. “My mixed doubles tennis partner, Chance Swan, and I played a three hour and fifteen-minute match, and won to advance to the Regional Tennis Tournament.” Her senior year in three words, “Stressful, Fun, FAST!’ Johana’s advice to underclassmen is, “Believe it when they say ‘high school goes by fast.’ Enjoy it. Do not take these next few years for granted and attend any activity. It will always be worth it. Last but not least, when the deadline is 11:59 pm, DO NOT START at 10:00 pm. (from experience.)” Johana’s most influential teacher during her school years is Dr. Mike Ralston.
Pedro is the son of Ernesto and Estella Robledo. He has one brother, Angel Robledo, and one sister, Belen Robledo. Pedro was a member of the SHS Welding Team his junior year, placing 2nd in the Perryton Welding Team Competition. He has also been listed on the All A Honor Roll throughout high school. In his spare time, Pedroenjoys socializing with friends – online and in person – cooking, and helping out with church. Pedro’s future plans include earning his CDL from Frank Phillips College and then attending Texas Tech University to earn a degree in General Business. Pedro states the best thing about Spearman is, “I like the that Spearman is a very clean and respectful town. Everyone is very accepting.” His senior year in three words, “Short, Exciting, Adventurous.” When asked to name the single most important lesson that he has learned while attending SISD he stated, “If you are respectful and nice, people will be respectful and nice back to you.” Pedro’s most influential teachers during his school years are: Mrs. Chelsey Carbajal, Ms. Lisa Carthel, Mrs. Stephanie Martinez, Mrs. Mary Beth Hicks, and Dr. Mike Ralston.
