The Teacher of the Year program is a special initiative to honor educators who go above and beyond, impacting every student and embodying the traits of an exceptional teacher. Spearman ISD is lucky to have so many dedicated and inspiring educators on its team. Staff members from each campus had the chance to nominate one teacher who truly exemplifies the qualities of a top-tier educator. The nominated teachers will proudly represent their campuses, and one outstanding individual will be chosen as the District Teacher of the Year. This winner will then move on to compete for Region 16 Teacher of the Year in August 2025. A big congratulations to Stephania Hernandez, Spearman High School Teacher of the Year; Sarah Witten, Spearman Junior High Teacher of the Year; and Teresa Gomez, Gus Birdwell Elementary Teacher of the Year. Spearman ISD is grateful for the incredible work you do and the lasting impact you make on every student fortunate enough to be in your class. The District Teacher of the Year will be announced at a later date. Sarah Witten teaches Response to Intervention (RtI) and 8th grade math at Spearman Junior High. A coworker commented: “Sarah is dedicated to her work and her students. She understands what it takes for a student to learn” Another coworker shared: “Sarah is an outstanding teacher who consistently goes above and beyond in every aspect of her role. Not only does she dedicate herself to creating a supportive and engaging environment for her students, but she also serves as a mentor to her colleagues, offering guidance and sharing her expertise. Her deep care for both the students and staff shines through in everything she does, making her an invaluable part of the campus.” A huge congratulations on being named SJH Teacher of the Year! Your dedication, passion, and hard work truly shines through, and this recognition is so well-deserved. What an incredible achievement!
