D’Arcy Roberts teaches art and floral design at the high school. “If I could describe Mrs. Roberts in one word, it would be selfless. She gives so much time to her church, own children, and is extremely flexible in the school system,” shared Spearman High School Principal, James Layman. “When we lost a good art teacher, I went to Roberts and asked if she was adventurous enough to try a new position. She agreed to take on the challenge and the art program has continued to grow,” added Layman.
“When I walk in her room, I see diversified instruction. She may have an Art I student working on straight lines and an Art IV student doing a research project. Her lessons always have a beginning, middle, and an end,” commented Layman.
“100% of the floral design candidates passed their test for certification. Take notice of the beautiful floral arrangement that will be on the stage at graduation. The students in her floral design class will have made it,” smiled Layman.
Congratulations on a well-deserved award.

Spearman ISD's Lynx to Learning Academy team was recognized at the school board meeting for completing their first year in the program.

Her support system consisted of her mother, Frances, and social studies teacher, Mary Lou Matthews. I can remember watching Elizabeth devour article after article; reading, categorizing, and filing from the stacks of newspapers and magazines on the old wooden table in the corner of Mrs. Matthews’ classroom,” shared nominator for Elizabeth Pipkin.
