Spearman ISD recognizes staff members who go above and beyond with the Spotlight Above and Beyond Award. Sally Swan and Kelly Scroggs are being spotlighted for November.
Kelly Scroggs and Sally Swan are Spearman ISD’s nursing team. Nurse Kelly and Nurse Sally’s office is at the elementary campus, but they serve the district and meet the needs of all students. “Nurse Sally and Nurse Kelly not only keep the students and staff healthy and happy, but they are also great listeners,” shared Lizet Olmos, Gus Birdwell Elementary. She added, “They are typically one of the first to know when a student is not having a good day.”
“These ladies wear many hats and will jump in wherever there is a need,” smiled Olmos. “They take care of the staff beyond the regular school day. The students know they are loved by our school nurses,” said Olmos.
Olmos shared a quote that is appropriate for the hard work Nurse Sally and Nurse Kelly do for the students and staff. “Putting on band aides, stopping a bloody nose, holding on to ice packs, giving out changes of clothes, tirelessly healing, all day long just to make sure that nothing goes wrong.”
Congratulations on always going above and beyond for the entire school district!

Spearman ISD's Board of Education proudly recognized Spearman Lion's Club November Students of the Month, Cadence Barrett and Avryn Delozier. Congratulations!

Spearman ISD recognizes staff members who go above and beyond with the Spotlight Above and Beyond Award. Cheryl Whitefield is being spotlighted for November.
Mrs. Whitefield is in her twenty-eighth year at Spearman High School. She has been in the profession for thirty-two years. “Cheryl Whitefield could tell you what year you graduated, who you graduated with, and there is a very good chance that she calls you, “One of hers,” smiled James Layman, Spearman High School Principal. “She has dedicated her life to not only serve her students, but the community of Spearman as well,” added Layman.
“Mrs. Whitefield personifies not only the qualities of an outstanding employee and loyal employee; she also embodies the essence of going above and beyond,” stated Layman.
With the teacher shortages, hiring staff to fill positions can be very difficult. “This past summer I stressed and stressed over how to handle the teacher shortage in the English department,” shared Layman. “Mrs. Whitefield said, “We will do what needs to be done, quit worrying about it.” Layman continued,” Shortly thereafter, a plan was made for Mrs. Whitefield to not only teach English IV and English 1301, but to add to her plate the English III AP course.” Whitefield is also the sophomore class sponsor and ESL coordinator.
“It is an honor to present the Above and Beyond Award to Mrs. Cheryl Whitefield,” beamed Layman.
Congratulations on very well-deserved award!
