
Spearman High School One-Act Play public performance will be this Sunday, March 30th, at 4:00 PM.


The Teacher of the Year program is a special initiative to honor educators who go above and beyond, impacting every student and embodying the traits of an exceptional teacher. Spearman ISD is lucky to have so many dedicated and inspiring educators on its team. Staff members from each campus had the chance to nominate one teacher who truly exemplifies the qualities of a top-tier educator.
The nominated teachers will proudly represent their campuses, and one outstanding individual will be chosen as the District Teacher of the Year. This winner will then move on to compete for Region 16 Teacher of the Year in August 2025.
A big congratulations to Stephania Hernandez, Spearman High School Teacher of the Year; Sarah Witten, Spearman Junior High Teacher of the Year; and Teresa Gomez, Gus Birdwell Elementary Teacher of the Year. Spearman ISD is grateful for the incredible work you do and the lasting impact you make on every student fortunate enough to be in your class.

A coworker expressed, ” Mrs. Gomez is a teacher who may be quiet, but leaves such a HUGE impact on her students. She puts her students first and does everything she can to ensure that they enjoy their Kindergarten experience. Anytime I talk with her she seems to be so well prepared and is always willing to share helpful information. She has such a big heart and we are blessed to have her at GBE!”
Another coworker added, “I am honored to nominate Teresa Gomez for the Campus Teacher of the Year award. Miss Gomez stands out as the top educator at GBE, showcasing effective teaching methods and a steadfast commitment to student success at Gus Birdwell Elementary.

“Mrs. Hernandez goes above and beyond in her classroom. She has up to three separate classes in one period, and you would never know. She has grown as a teacher this year, takes every day as a learning experience, and comes back the next day ready to teach even better. She supports all kids and co-workers. In her classroom, she holds kids accountable with content and discipline, and she is not afraid of leaning on her admin for help and guidance when making decisions. With this structure, her kids are engaged and taking learning into their own hands. She is a great educator who takes teaching seriously.”

Congratulations to SHS's One Act Play for an outstanding performance. Three members brought home some hardware! Genesis Chavira was awarded the Stage Manager Award, Ryan Vasquez received the Honorable Mention All Star Cast Award, and Chloe Rex received the All Star Cast Award!

Excellent day for Lynx and Lynxette golf at the Holy Cross Invitational played at a Palo Duro Creek in Canyon, Texas. The Lynx Golf team placed 1st!!! Connor Moore placed 1st as an individual and Izzy Sanchez placed 3rd!!
Izzy Slover finished 1st place overall as an individual and Acey Womble placed 4th!!

The school board honored the football team for being named the National Football Foundation Academic Excellence Award 2A State Champions. This marks the third consecutive year Spearman has earned this distinction, having previously been recognized as 3A champions in the first two years.
The team's academic achievements are remarkable, with an impressive collective GPA of 3.877. These athletes demonstrated leadership both in the classroom and on the field. Additionally, 19 players were enrolled in dual credit courses, and they collectively volunteered 472 hours. Furthermore, 9 team members serve as class or organization officers, showcasing their dedication beyond sports.
A special thank you goes to Mrs. Baird for her incredible work on the application process, with the assistance of the coaching team.

The students are putting in great effort on their community garden project, and it's truly coming together! A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to this amazing service project. Special shout-out to Guymon Mayor Kim Peterson for generously donating windows for the greenhouse. We’re still accepting donations, so if you’d like to be part of this wonderful initiative, there's still time to pitch in!

SISD Board of Trustees has unanimously approved the 4-day week for the 2025-2026 school year.
