Gus Birdwell Elementary is looking forward to a great school year. The first day of school is Thursday, August 17, 2023. The first bell rings at 7:55 a.m. and the tardy bell rings at 8:00 a.m. GBE will dismiss at 3:38 p.m. To ensure student safety and provide a great start to the school year, all students must be dropped off at the entrance. No parents or visitors will be allowed in the building at drop off. We will have several staff members eager to walk your student to class. Students who do not need assistance getting to class may enter through the back cafeteria doors. We will have photo opportunities on the front lawn. We can't wait to see all of our students.

SISD celebrates Chelsea Vanderburg today for being recognized at the Region 16 Fall Kickoff for being one of the top three teacher nominees for Elementary Teacher of the Year. Congratulations to Dumas ISD and your teacher that was selected for Elementary Teacher of the Year.
There will be a Pre-K parent meeting on Wednesday, August 16th from 12-12:30pm.
GBE students,
The first day of school is quickly approaching! In the next few days, check your mailboxes for a special delivery. A postcard with a scratch-off sticker will reveal your homeroom teacher's name. We can't wait to see you all for "Meet the Teacher" night on Tuesday, August 15th from 5-6pm.
