Spearman ISD Announces District Teacher of the Year
Spearman Independent School District is proud to announce that Teresa Gomez has been named the 2025 District Teacher of the Year. Gomez will represent Spearman ISD as she competes for the Elementary Region 16 Teacher of the Year in August. Winners from Region 16 will advance to the Texas Teacher of the Year competition.
Gomez currently teaches kindergarten at Gus Birdwell Elementary, where she brings dedication, passion, and excellence to her classroom each day. She is known for her unwavering commitment to her students and her positive influence on the campus community. One coworker shared, “She is the kindest and sweetest soul. My child is blessed to have her as a teacher and she has thrived since being in her classroom.”
Her peers consistently praise her attitude and approach to teaching. Another coworker remarked, “She always has a positive attitude and is always so kind to everyone around her. She teaches with so much grace and patience. Any kid would be lucky to have her as a teacher!”
Gomez’s commitment to continuous learning and professional growth sets her apart. A colleague highlighted her impact, stating, “Miss Gomez stands out as the top educator, showcasing effective teaching methods and a steadfast commitment to student success at Gus Birdwell Elementary.”
Her dedication goes beyond the classroom. As another coworker noted, “She is a wonderful teacher who has more patience with the students than most. She goes above and beyond to make sure every student is taken care of and in a safe learning environment.”
Spearman ISD’s Teacher of the Year selection process begins with staff nominations at each campus. Campus administrators then review all submissions and select one winner per school. From those campus winners, the district administrative team votes to determine the District Teacher of the Year.
We congratulate Teresa Gomez on this well-deserved recognition and wish her the very best as she competes at the regional level.

Former Lynxette and Tarleton State runner, Tylo Farrar Hutchison, spoke to the Regional qualifying Lynx and Lynxettes Wednesday night. She stressed to the team that track and cross country taught her hard work, effort, and teamwork, and how it will benefit you when things in life are not always easy.
Dr. Hutchison is now a veterinarian here in Spearman.
The track team will leave Friday morning for Canyon for the regional meet.

At the April board meeting, the SISD Board of Trustees proudly recognized the outstanding work of the district's paraprofessional team. These dedicated individuals play an important role in supporting the educational environment by wearing many hats—whether it's assisting teachers in the classroom, working directly with students, stepping in as substitute teachers, or taking on countless other tasks that help our schools run smoothly. Their flexibility, commitment, and compassion make a lasting impact every day.
Thank you for your dedication to our students !

Reminder: A Town Hall meeting regarding the School Bond will take place Tonight, April 17th, in the GBE cafeteria, beginning at 6 PM.
